See Defender's current protection status, installed definitions and update information. If another security provider is active, Windows may keep Defender disabled or passive.

Quick, full & custom scans

Scan common threat locations, your computer, or a selected file or folder. Follow actual engine output and elapsed time, with local logs for completed operations.

History & updates

View Defender detections, update its definitions and open Windows Security to review protection and quarantined items. Your existing Windows protection policies control remediation.

Installation & removal

Requires Windows 10/11, .NET Framework 4.8 and an available Microsoft Defender installation. The portable app is unsigned. It does not download another antivirus engine; definition updates download through Microsoft Defender when requested. Scan commands require administrator access and Windows will ask before elevation.

To remove the app, close it and delete its extracted folder. The app's About screen identifies its local log folder so you can keep or remove those logs separately. Windows Defender and its protection history remain managed by Windows.

Website upload, Cloud Share and email attachment protection are separate server features and remain available regardless of membership.
